RICHMOND, Va. – Over 116 golfers came out to support the Virginia National Guard Historical Foundation’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament Monday, May 17, 2021, at the Royal New Kent Golf Course in Providence Forge, Va.
“On behalf of Tom Wilkinson, Todd Combee, and the other members of the [Virginia National Guard Historical] foundation, I’d like to thank everybody for their participation and support,” said Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Ret.) Al Barnes, Virginia National Guard Historical Foundation vice president. “It was such a great event and we had so much fun– it was great weather and we got to play on a beautifully conditioned golf course.”
The 29 teams hit 18 holes as a Captain’s Choice four-person scramble that began just after 10:00 a.m. following opening remarks and concluding just after 3:30 p.m.
“As our foundation’s largest fund-raising event of the year, all the proceeds go to help us build the Museum of the Virginia National Guard,” explained Barnes. “We raised just over $25,000 for our museum in one day.”
