RICHMOND, Va. – As in-person events continue to reshuffle due to the Omicron variant’s surge across the Commonwealth, the Virginia National Guard Association announced the legislative reception for the 2022 General Assembly will move to February 17, 2022.
The celebration of the “Year of the Guard” had been set to take place this Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, but was postponed due to concern over health conditions.
“We have been looking at the numbers almost everyday hoping for the spike to stop and start falling,” said Andrew Czaplicki, VNGA President. “They just haven’t dropped enough for us to make this event happen in a safe manner.”
The legislative reception has traditionally been held following the start of the General Assembly and introduces legislators and government officials to leaders and members of the Virginia National Guard.
The rescheduled Legislative Reception is held Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Library of Virginia. All members of the Virginia National Guard, the General Assembly and the Gubernatorial Administration are invited to attend.
